This film was directed by Dodid Wijanarko and produced by Fauzan Zidni. According to the Great Dictionary of the Indonesian Language (KBBI), derang means the sound of a drum, while daring means online.

Derang-Daring presents three stories from different segments of society whose lives are deeply intertwined with the internet. The film showcases how the internet can create better opportunities for many people in Indonesia.

One of the main stories in the film is about the journey of three friends in founding Hear Me, a social startup that provides Indonesian language translation and interpretation technology to help the deaf community access information and communicate.

The film also highlights the story of Velin, a content creator from Reo Village in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). Through her YouTube channel, "Ceritanya Velin" ("Velin's Story"), she captivates audiences by depicting everyday life in her region, representing the voice of creators from eastern Indonesia.

Additionally, the film tells the story of Stenly Takarendehang and his determination to return to his hometown to develop Sakaeng Solata, an internet service provider located in the northernmost part of Indonesia, on Sangihe Island, near the border with the Philippines. Stenly is a member of the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII).

Director Dodid Wijanarko explained that this documentary highlights the struggle for equal access to opportunities for all Indonesians.

"It is about the fight for justice in obtaining internet access for welfare, education, health, independence, and security, especially for communities on islands, in border regions, and those living in mountainous areas," he said.
